What is a Mass Notification System?
A Mass Notification System is a web-based Notification service, offering immediate and simultaneous one-to-many communications using wired and wireless communication devices (telephones, Short Message Service (SMS) devices and email). By selecting Dashboard → Real Time, the Real Time - Dashboard screen appears. This Dashboard provides a real time overview of the notifications currently in progress. This panel enables the selection of a predefined notification message for preview and immediate sending. The Notifications-Quick launch screen features all notification templates stored in the system. Notification templates may be filtered by group, show only the favorites and show only the scheduled. Events are used to link specific notification disseminations together. To create an event: press “ADD” Type a TITLE Select the notifications you wish to assign to the event Press “CREATE” Notifications can also be assigned to the events through the Quick Launch screen. Text Variables are used to insert dynamic information into the notifications for things that cannot be predetermined. For example, time of incident, date of incident, location etc. To create a Text Variable: Go to the main text variable screen and press “ADD” Choose the text variable type you want to create (Text / Choices / Choices with Acronyms / Time / Date). To do so, drag and drop the languages you want to activate from the “Inactive Languages” bucket to the “Active Languages (Language Priority)” bucket.
